UNESCO Fit for Life Programme

The UNESCO Fit for Life Programme promotes sport and physical activity not only for their intrinsic value, but as powerful tools to advance broader social and educational objectives. The programme uses sport as a means to foster inclusion, gender equality, health, life skills and social cohesion.

Fit for Life supports policies, capacity-building and partnerships that integrate safe, inclusive and quality physical activity into education systems and community settings. It places particular emphasis on reaching children and young people, girls and women, and marginalized groups.

By mobilising sport to address development challenges, the programme contributes to sustainable development outcomes, including well-being, empowerment and resilience, in line with UNESCO’s mandate and the Sustainable Development Goals.
